PRIVACY POLICY

This is an English translation of our Japanese-language privacy policy, provided for convenience. The Japanese version is the governing text.

As a comprehensive automotive service company, Kato Auto Service aims for the highest quality in everything we do. Protecting and managing information that can identify you personally — your name, gender, date of birth, age, occupation, address, phone number, and similar details (collectively, "Personal Information") — is one of the most important parts of how we operate. We have established Basic Principles Concerning the Collection, Use, and Provision of Personal Information, and are committed to following the policy below.

1. Personal Information We Collect

When you use our services, we collect your personal information and information about vehicles you own or possess through in-store reception forms, applications and contracts for our various services, and forms on our affiliated websites. For the safety and security required in secondhand-goods transactions, we also request a copy of your driver's license at the time of a sale or purchase contract.

2. Purpose and Use of Collection

Personal information we collect is used only for operating and managing our services, and for any other purposes we've stated in advance. That said, we may also use personal information for the following purposes:

(a) When asking for your opinions or feedback to improve our services.
(b) For marketing activities aimed at informing you of new services or encouraging their use.
(c) For compiling and analyzing data to improve our services — in this case, only aggregated statistical information is used, and it is never linked back to data that could identify an individual.
(d) When required by law, or upon request from a government agency, local government, court, police, or other body with authority recognized under applicable laws or regulations.

We may also provide vehicle information from appraisals to organizations such as the Japan Auto Auction Council, to help prevent odometer tampering — but we never provide information that could identify an individual in doing so.

3. Outsourcing

To carry out our operations smoothly, we may outsource part or all of certain tasks to outside contractors, and may provide personal information to them to the extent necessary. In these cases, we select contractors with a high standard of personal information protection, and only proceed after entering into a confidentiality agreement with the selected contractor.

4. Respecting Individual Rights

We respect your rights regarding the personal information we hold. If you ask us to disclose, correct, or stop using your information, we will respond to your request without undue delay, within a reasonable time. A processing fee may apply for disclosure requests; we'll explain the details when you make a request. Please note that a correction or stop-use request tied to one service may not automatically apply across all of our services. We may also decline a request if we're unable to confirm your identity.

5. Appropriate Management and Protection of Personal Information

We take a range of security measures — both organization-wide information management and database-level security technology — to protect against unauthorized access, loss, leakage, destruction, or tampering of the personal information entrusted to us.

6. Notice of Changes to These Basic Principles

If we make changes to these Basic Principles, we will post the changes on our website.

7. Governing Law

We comply with the laws and standards of Japan applicable to the personal information we hold.

8. Continuous Improvement of Our Personal Information Protection Systems

We continuously work to improve our management systems and structures for personal information protection. If you have any questions or comments about how we handle personal information, please contact us through our contact form.
